1. "OLD DR. / J. TOWNSEND'S - SARSAPARILLA - NEW YORK.", (Odell, pg. 349), (DeGrafft, #206), New York, ca. 1840 - 1860, medium to deep yellow amber color, 9 1/2"h, iron pontil, applied tapered collar mouth.

An in-making pontil chip is off the heel of the base, otherwise in perfect condition.

Highly whittled glass. What a great and extremely rare color. Mitchell's price guide from 2008 has forty listings in this mould, none are in any shade of amber color! For those who specialize in Townsend's Sarsaparilla bottles, here is one you don't want to let get away!

13 $ 3,750

2. "DR. TOWNSEND'S - SARSAPARILLA - ALBANY / N. Y. - IIII", (Odell, pg. 349), (DeGrafft, #206), New York, ca. 1845 - 1860, medium shading to deep yellowish amber, 9 1/4"h, improved pontil scarred base, applied sloping collar mouth.

A small patch of ware is just above the base, otherwise a fine pristine example!

Pristine fine condition.

Full of tiny air bubbles and swirls of glass throughout. This is an extremely rare, important color for this mould and one that only comes up for sale on very rare occasions. Like lots 1 and 2 any one would add importance to your collection. But why buy only one? Imagine having all three being in your collection! Go for it!

14 $ 2,500

The bottle is perfect, but the label has some fading. In its early life some of the contents was used.

That said, of the dug examples we have seen, this is one of the nicer ones. Many of the known examples were found in Southern States, some probably on old Plantations.
