1. "OLD DR. / J. TOWNSEND'S - SARSAPARILLA - NEW YORK.", (Odell, pg. 349), (DeGrafft, #206), New York, ca. 1840 - 1860, medium to deep yellow amber color, 9 1/2"h, iron pontil, applied tapered collar mouth.
An in-making pontil chip is off the heel of the base, otherwise in perfect condition.
Highly whittled glass. What a great and extremely rare color. Mitchell's price guide from 2008 has forty listings in this mould, none are in any shade of amber color! For those who specialize in Townsend's Sarsaparilla bottles, here is one you don't want to let get away!
